Overlay Acoustic Flooring
Composite Construction Timber Panels
Overlay floor boards provide a simple solution for the improvement of structural and airborne
sound transmission, which is achieved through the provision of additional mass decoupled from the existing floor
substrate. The system is designed for the many applications where a civil floating floor is either impractical,
unnecessary or economically prohibitive.

Construction
The boards comprise a moisture resistant, medium density fibreboard top layer decoupled from a moisture resistant
chipboard core by visco-elastic damping strips. Acoustic felt bonded to the underside of the chipboard permits
installation over minor surface irregularities and provides an element of decoupling from the main floor substrate. A
neoprene strip around the periphery isolates the overlay flooring from the surrounding walls. The boards are laid to a
staggered joint pattern and the overlapping tongues are bonded with adhesive. The floor surface will accept carpet or
vinyl finishes to suit.
Dimensions and Weight
| Installed Thickness | Board Size | Area | Weight per m² | Weight per Board |
| 35mm | 1175mm x 575mm | 0.675m² | 18.47kg | 13.3kg |
Technical
The boards are suitable for use at normal operating temperatures and carry British Board of Agrèment Certification.
When properly installed they do not add to any existing fire hazard and will significantly reduce air and structure
borne sound transmission.
