Acoustic Doors
Internal Timber Door-sets
Acoustic doors of either single or double leaf construction can be provided to suit a variety of applications and can be supplied in primer, pre-finished or with timber veneers. All doors are manufactured with matching frames to ensure a high standard of fit and hence, acoustic performance. For most applications we recommend the use of timber construction as this affords greater flexibility in terms of door furniture and finish treatments.
Description
Construction comprises a timber leaf with hardwood lippings to the perimeter. The door leaf is factory machined
for the lock case and match manufactured with a hardwood frame, pre-assembled with all acoustic seals and hung
on lift off hinges, ready for installation. The acoustic seals comprise flexible elements around the periphery,
attached to the door and/or frame dependent on performance. The threshold is fitted with a drop-down seal, which
is activated on door closure. Standard fitment door furniture comprises hinges and a Euro profile sash lock/cylinder
with levers and escutcheons. Alternative door furniture or self-closing devices can be provided to meet specific
design requirements.
Door Finishes
The vast majority of our acoustic door-sets are supplied to site with a laminated finish to either side of the
door leaf and clear satin varnish to the hardwood frame and lippings. These can be chosen from our large range
of coloured and wood laminates. We can also supply doors in prime painted finish, pre-painted to an RAL 9010
colour or with a wood veneer finish. The natural finish of the hardwood, used to manufacture the door frames
and window surrounds, can afford a pleasant contrast to the chosen finish for the door leaf. The peripheral
acoustic seals are supplied with protective tape to facilitate ease of ’cutting in’ when applying site
treatments.
Fire Rating
Our door-sets are manufactured in France and have been tested in accordance with the relevant French
Standards, achieving a fire resistance of CF30 ie. 30 minutes. Our KA39 and KA43 door-sets have also been
tested in accordance with British Standards and achieve a fire resistance of FD30 ie. 30 minutes.
Acoustic Door Performance
Octave band centre frequency sound transmission loss measurements, carried out to standards NF S 31-049,
S 31-050, S 31-051 and S 31-045, supplemented by standard ISO 717/1 for expression of single Rw values, are
shown in the following table.

Size and Handling
Single and double leaf door-sets can be manufactured to suit most builders work opening sizes. All doors can
be handed to suit your requirements and provided with or without thresholds. Where it is possible to use a
standard size we prefer to use those tabulated below.

Non-Acoustic Doors
On larger projects where some of the doors may not need to be acoustically rated, but continuity of appearance
is required, we can supply non-acoustic doors to suit.
